United Airlines tweaks frequent flyer program to reward credit card spending

United Airlines has announced changes to its frequent flyer program to reward customers for using the airline’s co-branded cards. The airline has updated its MileagePlus program to reward cardholders with bonus miles for all purchases made with the United Explorer Card, United Business Card and United ClubSM Card. Cardholders will now receive five miles per dollar spent on all United charges, two miles per dollar spent on restaurants, hotels and select streaming services and one mile per dollar spent on all other purchases. Additionally, cardholders will now be able to use their miles to book domestic saver awards at a lower redemption rate on United-operated flights. The airline has also made several improvements to the program to improve member experience, including updating the MileagePlus mobile app and offering a new suite of features and account management tools.
