In December 2016, a Delta Airlines flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles had to turn around and return to Atlanta after a passenger experienced a “diarrhea incident” mid-flight. The airline stated that “for the comfort of all customers onboard, the flight returned to the departure point to allow a customer to deplane.” All passengers were taken off the plane so that it could be fully cleaned and sanitized, and then the passengers were re-accommodated on another flight.
