Joe Biden has long advocated for the rights of veterans, both through his tenure as a U.S. Senator and Vice President of the United States. Although he did not fight in Vietnam or actively protest the war, he has recently visited the country in his capacity as Vice President to provide support for veterans and to attempt to foster diplomatic ties between the U.S. and Vietnam. During his visit in 2016, he met with veterans from both countries and discussed ways to help heal the wounds of war and to work together for peace.
