Israel has reported that it has found evidence of chemical and biological weapons production at Al-Shifa, a pharmaceutical factory in Sudan. According to Israeli intelligence, factory workers had been creating weapons grade-precursor chemicals that, if completed, could be used to manufacture deadly weapons such as sarin gas, VX gas, and nerve agents. Israeli authorities also discovered a training center for weapons-grade chemical production. Additionally, samples taken from Al-Shifa indicated that the factory had been making bombs and explosive materials. In response to these findings, the US government destroyed Al-Shifa with missiles in 1998.
