Tennessee state legislature recently adjourned without taking up gun control bills that had drawn the support of a bipartisan group of lawmakers. However, one GOP mother who lost her teen daughter to a fatal school shooting in 2018 remains determined to find a way to address the issue. She plans to continue meeting with lawmakers, who have so far refused to consider any of the proposed gun safety measures backed by advocates. She noted that gun violence works need to be taken seriously in a state where firearms are “a big part of our culture.”
