McCarthy floats meeting with Biden on government shutdown, border

wall

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has said that he would like to meet with President Joe Biden to try and find a compromise on the ongoing government shutdown and the debate over funding for a border wall. McCarthy has offered to meet with Biden and has said that he does not think either side should make new demands in order to find a resolution. The government shutdown has been ongoing since late December, with the two sides currently at an impasse over the president’s proposed border wall. Biden has said that the wall is an ineffective solution and has instead suggested investing in technology and additional personnel at the border. both sides have also exchanged harsh rhetoric over the issue, making a compromise increasingly difficult to find.
