Jewish Florida lawmaker breaks from DeSantis and endorses Trump

: ‘He is my pro-Israel president’

Florida state representative Randy Fine, a Republican and Jewish American, announced his endorsement for President Donald Trump’s reelection, breaking away from Governor Ron DeSantis, who recently endorsed another presidential contender.

Fine, who represents Brevard County in the Florida House, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency he endorsed Trump because the president has been a strong supporter of Israel and a friend to the Jewish people.

“President Trump is my pro-Israel president,” Fine said. “He has been a better friend to Israel than any president before him. He has moved our embassy to Jerusalem, he supported Israel with military aid, he recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Anything he’s done, it’s all been good for Israel, and so for a Republican who happens to also be Jewish, you’d have to be really, really out of step not to be very supportive of President Trump.”

Fine’s break with DeSantis is notable given their proximity in the Florida state government. Fine said that while he respects DeSantis, he takes his support of Israel very seriously and believes Trump is best for the Jewish State.
