On Wednesday, May 9, 2018, Mary Peltola, an Alaska House Representative, tragically lost her husband Joe in a plane crash near Big Lake, Alaska. Joe Peltola, a commercial pilot and lifelong Alaskan, was flying as the sole occupant of a small airplane when it crashed in heavy fog. Joe Peltola was 68 years old. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Peltola, and their children and grandchildren.
