On April 8, 2021, U.S. Representative Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) announced that she will not seek reelection in 2022. Eshoo has served in Congress since 1993 and currently represents California’s 18th congressional district. In a statement released on Twitter, the Congresswoman said, “It’s been an immense privilege to serve as the Congresswoman for the 18th district of California for the past 28 years. After much thought and prayer, I have decided not to seek re-election in 2022.” Eshoo thanked her constituents for their support, and said that she was proud to have worked on issues such as health care expansion, the defense of women’s reproductive rights, and protecting the environment.
