A strike involving tens of thousands of Las Vegas Strip hotel workers at 18 casinos could take place as soon as this month. Last week, the Culinary Workers Union, Local 226, released a statement saying that the union workers have delivered a strike notice to the affected casinos in Las Vegas. The union and casinos have been in contract negotiations since February. In the statement, the union said hotels that will be affected by the strike include: Bellagio, Aria, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, New York-New York, Luxor, Excalibur, Tropicana, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, Harrah’s, LINQ, Imperial Palace, Bally’s, Paris, Planet Hollywood, Rio, and the Venetian. It is unclear at this time when the strike will take place, or what the demands of the union workers are. However, the union has been outspoken in its demands for better wages, better benefits, and improved workplace safety.
