Pramila Jayapal’s sister, State Sen. Pramila Kumar, is running for Washington State’s 8th Congressional District seat in the 2020 election. Under Washington state’s top-two system, Kumar could face off against her sister in a primary, as they are both running for the same seat. Rep. Jayapal’s plans are for re-election.
