Oscar Pistorius was released from prison in South Africa in October 2019, after having served nine years of his 13-year sentence for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013. After his release, Pistorius was placed under correctional supervision for the remainder of his sentence. The supervision, which he is required to comply with, includes biometric testing and a ban on international travel. Pistorius must also report to the parole board on a regular basis.
