The Gaza Health Ministry, which is controlled by the militant group Hamas, says that at least 10,186 Palestinians have been killed in the 11-day conflict between Israel and Hamas. This includes 2,819 children, 1,609 women, and 80 elderly. In addition, 54,949 people have been injured, including 17,103 children, 11,065 women, and 472 elderly.
The Palestinian death toll in Gaza continues to rise, as does international condemnation of Israel’s campaign. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, has called for an urgent investigation into alleged violations of international law by Israel, and the Cairo-based Arab League has condemned the offensive.
The death toll is likely to continue to rise, as internationally-brokered ceasefire talks remain stalled. Despite international pressure, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue the offensive until Hamas is defeated.
