In April 2021, a US law firm rescinded job offers it had made to two Harvard University students after they signed a letter in support of democratic rights for Palestinians and wrote an op-ed critical of Israel’s policy towards the Palestinians. The firm, evacuating the offers after coming under pressure from Israel supporters, argued that the students’ views were “antithetical to the firm’s values and culture”. The students who learned of the firm’s decision expressed dismay over the message it sends to aspiring lawyers.
