The reports were widely shared on social media in reaction to the deadly raid, and some news outlets reported that the babies were beheaded in the attack. The Israeli army did not immediately confirm or deny the reports.
“It’s not something we’ve been able to confirm or disprove,” an Israeli official told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to discuss the allegation.
He added that the Israeli government was now focused on finding the perpetrators of the attack and bringing them to justice.
