Crystal Mason, the wife of a Republican Party official in Texas, was recently convicted of voter fraud for participating in a months-long scheme leading up to the 2020 election. Mason was charged with illegal voting after she admitted to illegally casting a provisional ballot in Tarrant County during the November 2020 election. Mason was ineligible to vote as she was on supervised release for a past conviction of federal tax fraud. At her trial, Mason pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison for her role in the scheme. In addition, Mason received three years of additional supervised release after completing her prison sentence. The conviction of a Republican Party official’s wife highlights the need for continued election security measures and closer scrutiny of voters.
