Prosecutors in the trial of Sam Bankman-Fried have compared defense arguments to the 1994 comedy “Dumb and Dumber.” The analogy was made in response to the defense’s claims that Bankman-Fried was not aware that he was accused of misusing investor funds. The prosecutors argued that Bankman-Fried’s attempts to paint himself as unaware of the facts surrounding the case were akin to “Dumb and Dumber’s” characters, Lloyd and Harry, who were completely unaware of the situation around them. The analogy is used to suggest that Bankman-Fried’s claims were similarly baseless.
